Op 23 november a.s. in het WTC/Leeuwarden (www.wtcmice.nl) zal er voor de alleeerste keer een speciaal evenement plaatsvinden waarvoor ik u wil uitnodigen.
Deze 'kick-off' bijeenkomst vindt plaats als pre-conference workshop van de International Networking Conference Sensor Universe (INCSU) die op 24 en 25 gehouden wordt (voor meer informatie, zie http://www.sensoruniverse.com/Agenda/Zesde-event-INCSU/

Na een inleiding en een gemeenschappelijk referentiekader, beraadslagen groepen volgens de beproefde 'Focused Feedback" techniek van het IKP Programma.
Aan het eind van de dag leidt dit tot consensus-based conclusies en aanbevelingen rond de vraag: "Welke ICT activiteiten zouden ontwikkeld kunnen of moeten worden door een toekomstig Center-of-Excellence for Critical Infrastructure en Emergency Management?". Een agenda-zettende activiteit dus.
We zullen deze workshop in de toekomst vaker gaan organiseren met partners uit het ICT bereik, maar voor deze eerste keer is het belangrijk om mensen uit te nodigen die nu reeds ideeen hebben en die minimaal gehoord hebben over het Internationale Katrina Programma. U dus.

During the summer of 2010, the International Katrina Project Europe has successfully launched its first series of Focused Feedback Workshops in the Netherlands.
Around the central themes of Critical Infrastructure Protection and International Emergency Management the participants in this workshop will:

1. Create a common frame of reference in International Emergency Management (IEM) and Critical Infrastructure (CI)
2. Explore some of the lessons that were – or were not – learned and identify some of the problems and opportunities at the interface between ICT, CI and IEM.

3. Produce ‘Focused Feedback’ (= peer-reviewed, consensus-based) conclusions and recommendations on “The role of Information and Communication Technology in Critical Infrastructure Protection”

The workshop will take place under the guidance of lead-presenter Eelco H. Dykstra, a professor of International Emergency Management at the George Washington University from 2005-2009, is now the Director International of The International Katrina Project, Inc.

Participants in this highly interactive workshop will also engage in examining the consequences of a collapse of ICT-systems. Based on the reality-fiction book “The Storm”, the effects for people, infrastructures, the environment and the economy will be explored. What can we think of now – in terms of conclusions with corresponding recommendations - to be prepared for these effects ahead of time?

Participants
This workshop is intended for professionals from ICT, Emergency Management and Critical Infrastructure. They might be public administrators and policy advisers at the international, national or local levels, senior management from public and private enterprise, as well as professionals working in Research & Development and Science & Technology. The maximum number of participants is 32.

Costs
The all-in price is € 395,- (excl. VAT).

There is a discount of € 100,- for members of the Sensor Universe network.

Each participant will receive a copy of the book “The Storm” and a thumb-drive with all relevant documents, presentations and pictures. Each participant will also receive a certificate of completion and a full set of the consensus-based conclusions and recommendations produced.
